This was some of the opening greeting at the fundraiser:Β
It’s been said β€œThird Time is a Charm”, meaning that the third time something is attempted, luck is sure to result. I think we all can vouch for that, considering this is the third time we’ve rescheduled our event and made it happen.Β
Good evening everyone welcome to the second crazy AA Flight Attendant, Pilot, Agent cat owners Group Fundraiser.Β
As I look out and see many of my friends that I have known for 35 years, I see new friends that attended our fundraiser in 2019 and I see new faces that we welcome.Β  After tonight we will all become friends.Β
So – who are we and why do we do what we do? Why are we having a fundraiser? We are a group of individuals who come together as ONE to help each other. We understand and appreciate the love we all have for our cats. There is nothing more devastating than the unexpected illness, the trip to the vet and the unplanned vet bill. It is for that reason the Crazy Cat fundraiser was conceived. Our goal is to create an emergency group fund our members can draw upon when they need assistance. Our fund is to help members to TNR, foster, transport and adopt. This fund is for our Cats.Β
We are more than β€œjust” a group on Facebook. Our group is actually a LLC business. We have a website and we have our own logo. On our group website you will find information on donating monthly. You can donate through AAFCU, PayPal, Venmo or other banking Institute’s. Any amount from one dollar up goes into our group fund. Also on our website you will find information on ordering our logo T-shirt, bag tags and lapel pins.Β
Because of our group, and members like you we are excited to announce that since our last fundraiser on August 18, 2019 we have helped 59 members in need. We have paid out $18,200. All Because of you.
🐾
This does not include the GoFundMe account we started last February to help those members affected by the horrific winter storm. The $1375 that we raised was distributed out to six members. It may have been a small amount but every penny counted to them.Β
Unfortunately, since November 2019 six members have passed. To four of these members we donated to a Cat shelter that their family recommended. Two of the members , a tree has been planted in their name to forever live and grow.Β  This is all because of you.
🐾
The members in our group are the most amazing, caring, supportive and loving people the world has ever known. You are here for each other in times of silliness and heartbreak. You know you can ask questions, get advice, post hundreds of adorable pictures and you will not be judged.
We had a Christmas member member gift exchange last year. We also had a member secret Santa to furloughed flight attendants. Both were very successful. This year we are happy to announce we will have another member member gift exchange. We will post details in November. Again, I’ll because of you.
🐾
Due to Covid, and rescheduling our event three times, WE as a group came up with the idea of a weekly Auction to supplement our group fund. Since the beginning of February through August we have held 30 weekly auctions. We have raised $3834.00
We will start the auctions back up next week. Again, all because of you.
🐾
None of this would be made possible if it had not been for members like you. We thank you for your compassion.
As I close so we can get this event going, I want to say thank you to our group moderators Vonda Millard and Stevie J Jay. I could not manage this group without their help, support and dedication. We thank all of you for your extra eyes and helping when you see something that may not be acceptable or may be inappropriate. We want to give a huge thank you to Jennifer Waldrip Craig, Who unbeknownst to her when she under took this challenge to collect and store items for the event, little did she know it would be two years worth of crazy cat items.
πŸ™€.Β
Thank you to EVERYONE that sent in the amazing donated items for the raffle prizes.Β
We thank everyone that came in early Friday – Saturday to help set up from running errands to making centerpieces.Β
It truly takes a village and I love that I’m in your village.Β
Tammy Blythe Ary’s daughter Hadley was our group photographer- thank you.Β
We went to take our volunteers for helping us check everyone in this evening and sell raffle tickets- Dr Donna Hunter,Debbie Gibbles, Belynda Whitehead Bridgford, Janet Taylor-Fish and Judy George Kinnamore
A huge shout out to Marc Patterson for setting up information about River ReFresh and donating each attendee with a bottle of hand sanitizer.Β
We have the wonderful Dr Susan Head I will be speaking soon we want to thank her for taking time out of her busy practice each day to answer questions whenever we post on our group page.Β
Β
So that pretty much sums up how we started our fundraiser off. For those of you who were not able to attend,Β  we hope to see you next year. For those of you who didn’t realize what a great group you are in, maybe now you have some insight on what we do and why we do it. Again it takes a village we are all ONE.Β  it is ALL BECAUSE OF YOU /
